Setting the Time
for New York
Charles Lewis Tiffany installed the Atlas clock
on the façade of Tiffany & Co. in 1853. It was one
of the city’s first public timepieces and New
Yorkers set their watches to it. It still stands to
this day, now at the flagship at 727 Fifth Avenue,
keeping time for the fastest city in the world.
