Make A Lasting Impact

At Tiffany & Co., we believe it is our moral duty to sustain the natural environment. As a result, we are committed to not only minimizing our impacts as a business but using our voice and actions to positively affect communities and protect the planet.

Industry Leadership

As a leader in the luxury industry, we recognize the opportunity we have to influence culture and set the standards for excellence—not only in fine jewellery and craftsmanship but also in what it means to be a responsible corporate citizen. We have implemented a vertical integration model that gives us a strong chain of custody, direct oversight of our manufacturing and a voice for improving global standards and conditions.

Whether it’s protecting pristine landscapes like Yellowstone National Park and Bristol Bay from the damaging effects of mining or voicing support for the protection of human rights in Angola and Zimbabwe, we advocate for important issues and encourage others to join us in creating meaningful change. We understand that the long-term resilience of our planet and its natural resources, the well-being of people and the success of our business go hand-in-hand, which is why it is key for us to have a positive impact where we operate.

Responsible Mining

We believe fine craftsmanship starts with responsibly sourcing the highest quality raw materials and continues through the creation of the final piece of jewellery. Unlike other jewellers, we source the majority of our rough diamonds and metals directly from mines we know and from recycled sources. We are devoted to better understanding the social, economic and environmental impacts of the mining and processing of precious materials so that we can create positive impacts along the supply chain, all the way from the mine to our customers.

At Tiffany & Co. we are committed to sourcing the highest quality diamonds with complete integrity. We value traceability and the importance of knowing the origin of our diamonds from the moment they’re culled from the earth. That’s why, to start with, our diamonds are only sourced from countries that are full participants in the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme. But we don’t just stop there. We go above and beyond the Kimberley Process—with our own chain of custody controls and by advocating for stronger global standards—to ensure that human rights and the environment are protected. We also strongly believe in investing in the local communities in which we operate through local hiring, robust job training and fair wage practices at our cutting and polishing facilities around the world.

Protecting the Environment

Our dedication to protect the natural world is at the heart of Tiffany culture. We aspire to leave behind a world that is as beautiful and abundant as the one we inherited. We have long spoken out about the need to protect certain special places from mining such as Yellowstone National Park and Bristol Bay, Alaska.

We work to ensure that our Blue Boxes and bags are sustainable by sourcing paper from responsibly managed forests and recycled paper. We seek to advance the use of sustainably sourced paper and wood-fiber materials used as part of our business, in order to reduce our environmental footprint.

Here at Tiffany & Co., we are unique in the fact that we manufacture the majority of our products ourselves, and also cut and polish the majority of our diamonds. We also make it our business to get to know those we work with. Our multidimensional Social Accountability Program allows us to better ensure that vendors in the program protect basic human rights, labour and environmental standards wherever they operate around the world.

Energy and Climate Change

We are dedicated to reducing our energy usage and greenhouse gas emissions to protect future generations from the impacts of climate change. We are proud of our pledge to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by the year 2050.

Energy conservation, green building principles, renewable energy use and proactive environmental management are essential pillars of greening our workplace. In our hometown of New York City, our new corporate offices were consolidated and are now LEED Platinum-certified for Commercial Interiors.

By fitting new and existing stores with LED lighting, we are reducing total energy use as part of our 2020 greenhouse gas reduction goal of 15%. We are also setting goals towards ultimately procuring 100% of our electricity from renewable sources to meet our longer term aspiration of net-zero. In our manufacturing and distribution facilities, we are implementing a variety of emission-reduction programs, including the use of solar arrays in some locations.

Our Employees

Our company is only as strong as our employees and at Tiffany & Co., we prioritize building and nurturing a culture of excellence across our operations. From the sales professionals who begin their careers and retire with us to our newest designers, we are proud of our employees and know that they share our collective values of respect, inclusiveness, excellence and responsibility.

We honour the dignity of all people and respect the laws, customs and values of the communities in which we operate. We recognize each employee’s knowledge and skills as an important source of organizational capability and competitive advantage, ensuring there are broad training and development opportunities at all levels. We welcome diversity in all its forms and emphasize personal accountability and professionalism in a respectful, inclusive and fair work environment.

Charitable Giving

At Tiffany & Co., we strongly believe that a successful company has a responsibility to the greater community. We are proud of our long legacy of supporting nonprofit organizations and civic institutions in the cities and communities where we work. In addition to benefitting people and the planet through our business operations, we’re supporting the local communities in which we operate through our corporate giving programs.

As we continue to expand our business globally, our investments in charitable organizations are expanding as well. In 2000, The Tiffany & Co. Foundation was established to provide a clear focus for our philanthropic efforts. The Foundation supports organizations dedicated to the stewardship of natural resources and awards grants to nonprofit organizations focused on responsible mining, coral and marine conservation and urban parks.

Tiffany has a long legacy of operating as a responsible corporate citizen. Under the leadership of Tiffany’s CEO, Frederic Cumenal, sustainable practices are incorporated into the culture of our organization. With the appointment of a Chief Sustainability Officer, Anisa Kamadoli Costa, and the establishment of a Corporate Social Responsibility Committee of the Board of Directors, our leadership has sent a clear message about the importance of corporate responsibility. Our enhanced management structure and internal processes enable continued improvement and leadership on key social and environmental issues and alignment with long-term business objectives. Our Directors, officers and employees are committed to the ethical principles embodied by our Company practices and standards.
